PORT DICKSON: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is scheduled to launch the ‘Skuad Sayang United’ carnival of Wanita Umno at Dataran Telok Kemang here on Sunday, said Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
She also said that Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Umno Supreme Council members and leaders of other Barisan Nasional component parties were also scheduled to attend the event.
“We expect about 7,000 members of Skuad Sayang throughout the country to attend the opening ceremony. The objective of the carnival is to foster greater goodwill among the members who have toiled for society,” she said when briefing reporters on the event.
Skuad Sayang carries out various programmes and aid projects for community welfare.
Shahrizat, who is Skuad Sayang national chief commissioner, said the two-day carnival was being held in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of Umno on May 11.
Negeri Sembilan Wanita Umno head Datuk Norhayati Omar said the carnival would also enable society to understand the role of Skuad Sayang.--BERNAMA
