KUCHING: A total of 71 percent of the 24,604 early voters comprising military and police personnel, including their spouses, have cast their votes as of 4pm.
With an hour to go before all polling centres close, the turnout has already exceeded 70 percent, as predicted by the Election Commission.
More voters are expected to cast their ballots before 5pm.
Earlier, Election Commission chairman Datuk Seri Hashim Abdullah said he expected voter turnout to exceed 70 percent in today’s pre-polls.
At 2pm, 33 centres were closed due to low number of registered voters.
