KUANTAN: Representatives from the National Heritage Department will examine the British shipwreck uncovered in Sungai Pahang at Kampung Tanjung, Paloh Hinai in Pekan, this evening.
State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin said the department will inspect the shipwreck before completing a detailed report on the discovery.
He said representatives will be interviewing the village headman and villagers who had provided information to the media on the shipwreck.
"The public should not make any speculation until the department completes its report on the shipwreck and history," he told a press conference here today.
On Wednesday, the remains of what appeared to be a steam-engine ship emerged after the water level in Sungai Pahang receded due to the current hot spell.
