'Helicopter incident a tragedy but won't affect Sarawak polls'

KUCHING: The case of the missing people on helicopter is a tragedy and it will not affect the ongoing Sarawak election.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said it was an unexpected incident, and expressed his concern for the six people on board, who included a federal deputy minister, another member of parliament and four others.

"What happened was an accident that was unexpected...It is a tragedy. There is no effect on the (Sarawak election)," said Najib when asked on the effect the incident would have on the polling process tomorrow.

Najib said no helicopters for VIPs have been grounded yet and the Department of Civil Aviation will decide whether to suspend helicopter operator involved.
