Stop politicising helicopter incident, warns Hishammuddin

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has warned irresponsible quarters to stop politicising the missing helicopter tragedy.

"Some people have begun to politicise the incident on social media, with ridiculous comments.

I warn them to stop as we need to take care of the family members' feeling. This is a warning. I'm very serious," he stressed.

Hishammuddin, who had handled major tragedies previously in the form of the MH370 and MH17 incidents, said, based on his experiences, the most challenging part would be dealing with the families and their loved ones.

Although the main focus was still on the search and rescue operation, the most challenging task would be handling the families.

"We don't want to give them false hope yet we don't want them to give up too fast.

"As long as the victims (bodies) have not been found, we are praying for some miracles," he said.

He also told the public not to speculate as it would affect the families' emotions and feelings.
