'Don't insult me by saying I'm being used by BN'

PETALING JAYA: Mazuyin Abd Manan, the grandmother of the DAP candidate for Batu Kitang, has lashed out at claims by the Opposition that she had been ‘used’ by Barisan Nasional.

Although her grandson Abdul Aziz Isa is contesting the Sarawak election on a DAP ticket, Mazuyin maintained that she has always been a PBB supporter and was capable of making up her own mind when it comes to politics, Free Malaysia Today reported.

“I have always been a PBB supporter. Though you may think I’m old, no one can force me to do anything I don’t want to do,” the portal quoted her as saying.

Mazyuin was responding to her grandson’s claims that rival candidate Lo Khere Chiang from SUPP had used “dirty politics”.

Abdul Aziz was referring to Mazuyin’s comments that she disapproved of her former’s decision to contest under the Opposition banner in Batu Kitang.

According to the report, Mazuyin also urged the people not to vote for her grandson as he was “going against the government.”

She said Lo never asked her for any help.

“I went to the SUPP ceramah on my own accord. Aziz should not make this wild allegation.

“What is truly ‘dirty politics’ is making these kinds of accusations,” she said.

Mazyuin reiterated her support for Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem, whom she described as a “good man” who had the interests of his people at heart.

“That is why I support him,” she said of the PBB president.

“To the Opposition, please do not insult an old woman like me by saying that I am being used by the BN.

“This is just an election, as good human beings we should not stoop so low as to insult each other.”
