LANGKAWI: The heavy rain and strong wind which occurred this afternoon damages numerous public facilities including advertisement boards and fences at Dataran Lang here.
In the 1pm incident, a number of roads in Padang Matsirat here were blocked by fallen trees, while several advertisement boards in Kuah were damaged and fell to the ground.
A ferry owned by Senang Ekspress, parked about 50m away from the Dataran Lang here, also drifted and rammed into the square’s perimeter fencing. The ferry however was not seriously damaged.
A witness, Mohamad Fadzli Abdullah, 24, said that strong waves which occurred during the bad weather had caused the ferry to drift before ramming into the perimeter.
