KUALA LUMPUR: Two teenagers drowned when they slipped into a large ditch near Jalan Sungai Panjang in Selangor today.
The two, identified as Mohamad Salman Rahmat and Mohamad Riduan Jamhari, both 14, were believed to have been playing near the area prior to the incident.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the department received a distress call at 5.31pm and five firemen from Sungai Besar station were deployed to the scene.
"The first victim was found at 5.50pm while the second victim was found three minutes later," he said.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
