No 'charmed' water in Klang Chinese school, says Education Ministry

PUTRAJAYA: There is no evidence indicating that water served to pupils at a Chinese school in Klang here had been ‘charmed.’

Checks by the authorities on the water dispensers at SJK (C) Pandamaran A turned up nothing more than plain water filers.

Commenting on a case where the school pupils were allegedly given ‘charmed water’ to improve their academic performances, Deputy Education Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan said the authorities had quizzed the headmistress and recorded her explanation on the issue.

“The headmistress explained that it was just plain filtered water,” he said, adding that the water was distributed by a company and bore the Syabas and Jakim halal logos.

"The Klang district education office is still waiting for a report from the Health Ministry for the next course of action to be taken."

According to previous reports, the headmistress had claimed that under-performing pupils could become top-scorers in their UPSR examinations if they drank the ‘miracle water.’

She also allegedly sprinkled the water on academically-weaker pupils in her office.

Following protests by teachers and the school's Parent-Teacher Association, the distribution of the water had been stopped.
