Three civil servants charged with using fake MCs

SEREMBAN: Three civil servants were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with using fake medical leave certificates (MCs) two years ago.

Mazlan Ahmad, 48; Rosyanizam Yahya, 38; and Muhamad Hafiz Mohamad Sarpan, 33, who were charged separately, all pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out to them before Magistrate Rahimah Rahim.

Mazlan was charged with three counts of using fake government MCs with the intent to deceive the state Islamic Religious Affairs Department between Nov 2 and Dec 12 last year.

Rosyanizam was charged with 13 counts of the same offence at the same location between Dec 22, 2014 and Apr 18 this year.

Muhammad Hafiz was charged with four counts of the same offence at the same location between Feb 27, 2014 and Aug 20, 2015.

All the accused were charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using as genuine a forged document, punishable under Section 468 of the same Act.

They can be punished with a maximum of seven years imprisonment and a fine, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Siti Khadijah Mohd Pisol and Ainnan Mohd Rasid prosecuted while Iwana Sakinah Mohd Lajis represented the accused.

The court set bail at RM3,600 for Mazlan; RM16,100 for Rosyanizam and RM4,800 for Muhamad Hafiz with one surety.

The case will be mentioned on June 21.
