PORT DICKSON: The Port Dickson Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry crippled a syndicate smuggling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) following a raid in Lukut on Monday.
Department head Firdus Zakaria said the joint-operation was held with a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) team about 2pm.
The team had inspected a number of lorries at at company premises and discovered 30 tonnes of LPG stored in their tanks.
“MACC had staked out the premises for two months before confirming that such activities were taking place at the company.
“Our checks showed that that the operator had transformed the lorries into LPG stores. We found five lorries, four fully loaded with LPG and one half-loaded, with a total load value of RM105,000.
“We also seized the five lorries to facilitate investigations,” he told a press conference, here today.
Firdus said MACC had also arrested a man in his 40s for trying to bribe an Immigration officer to release his foreign workers who were working without a permit.
