Stop speculation on fate of kidnapped Malaysians, urges Sarawak deputy CM

PETRA JAYA: All quarters have been urged to refrain from making wild speculations over the fate of the four Sarawakian sailors kidnapped off Pulau Ligitan in Sabah on Apr 1.

Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing said the state government has not received any confirmation over a report suggesting that the four sailors had been released by their Abu Sayyaf captors.

"So far, the Sarawak government has not received any confirmation on the release of the four kidnap victims.

"All this while, it was the police who were involved in the negotiation and in handling the issue.

"It is best to leave it to the authorities and stop from making any speculation," said Masing, adding that he hoped the four victims could be freed and reunited with their families soon.
