Woman's body found on riverbank, partly eaten by wild animals

BATU PAHAT: The decomposed body of an 80-year-old rubber tapper was found on the banks of Sungai Sembrong today, several days after she went missing.

The remains of Dijah Asir was found by a buffalo herder at about 2.30pm near Kampung Parit Bingan Laut, Parit Raja.

Batu Pahat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Din Ahmad said 40 per cent of her body was decomposed, while other parts were believed to have been eaten by wild animals.

"Based on her age, she may have slipped and fell. A post mortem is being conducted on her remains.

"Dijah's body was discovered today after a search was mounted for her. Her body was identified by a family member based on the clothes she wore," said Din.
