Teen found stabbed to death at Paya Terubong flats

GEORGE TOWN: Residents of a block of flats in Paya Terubong here were shocked to find a teenager with stab wounds on his neck along the corridor past midnight.

They immediately alerted the police. However, paramedics who arrived on the scene found that the boy had died.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the deceased was identified as an 18-year-old Myanmar national who holds a UNHCR card.

He said the victim was stabbed with a sharp object in the neck and chest.

"We are still investigating the cause and motive of the incident," he added.

Mior said three Bangladeshi nationals, aged 31 to 33, have been remanded for a week to assist murder investigations.

He commended residents of the flat who helped apprehend the three foreigners.
