Mahfuz slammed for 'spinning' statement on Umno-Pas unification

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas central committee member Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has lambasted Pokok Sena member of parliament Datuk Mahfuz Omar for allegedly 'spinning' Pas Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduk Nik Aziz's statements on unification with Umno.

Mahfuz, in a statement issued today, has called for the Umno-Pas alliance not to be delayed, citing indications that there was a significant drive from within the Pas leadership towards that outcome.

He called for the unification to be formalised ahead of the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by elections this week, with Pas forfeiting contest in one of those seats to bolster Umno's voter base and vice versa.

"What are his intentions behind this spin, other than to create negative interpretations on Nik Abduh's statements," said Sanusi.

"This is not the first time, as he had also spun statements made by Idris Ahmad. What does he want from Pas and what else has he not gained from the party?"

Sanusi reminded Mahfuz that it was Pas which had saved him and revived his political career.

"Who is Mahfuz had he not been in Pas? Where would he be if Pas members had not resurrected him from a dark history? Now, for the sake of his own political gain, along with a few Umno conspirators, he is throwing sand into the rice bowl which had saved him," said Sanusi.
