Klang Valley burglary gang's crime spree brought to an end

SERDANG: A group of burglars had reckoned that they would have a lesser chance of getting caught if they operated in the day, as houses would generally be unoccupied.

After a string of successes, their crime spree in the Klang Valley came to an end last Tuesday when they were eventually caught by police.

Police believe that the burglars, aged between 25 and 46, were responsible for at least four cases in the Klang Valley.

Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Megat Aminuddin Megat Alias said two of the suspects had at least 10 prior convictions for robbery while one of them had a drugs conviction.

“On June 6, a 58-year old contractor lodged a report at the Bandar Kinrara police station when suspects broke in into his house while he was away at work.

"The suspects got in by cutting the padlock at the front grill. Total losses were estimated at around RM6,000,” he said.

Following the report, police formed a task force. Based on intelligence work, they had arrested two of the suspects in a car at Taman Serdang Raya in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

Their accomplice was nabbed in a hotel room at a hotel in Seri Kembangan.

Police seized two stolen cars from them, as well as tools believed to have been used in their burglary activities, and dozens of stolen items including handphones, bags, and a cigarette box containing syabu.
