JOHOR BARU: Despite showing positive signs to treatment at hospital, Muhammad Iskandar Syukri, the 21-month-old boy who was bitten by a cobra at his house in Mersing on Wednesday is still in critical condition.
State Health and Environment Executive Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the bite wound on Iskandar's left leg has healed well. However, the toddler is still in a coma.
"Today, the Sultan Ismail hospital performed a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan on Iskandar to find out whether his brain was affected by the bite. We also need to find out if the delay in getting him to the hospital had any effect on him," said Ayub after visiting Iskandar at the Sultan Ismail Hospital yesterday.
Iskandar fell unconscious after he was bitten by the cobra at about 9pm at his family's home.
Iskandar's parents Nur Jannah Abdullah, 17, and Mohd Syukri Abdullah, 19, were also at the hospital today.
