KUALA LUMPUR: Umno members should accept the Supreme Council's decision to sack Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir with an open heart.
Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that in the world of politics, there is a hefty price to pay if one is not loyal to the party.
"I have been through that once before and I paid for it.
"In this regard, we were taught to have total loyalty, and this is what is being done by (Umno president) Datuk Seri Najib Razak's leadership," he said.
Zahid said it is now important for the party leadership to close ranks and for the grassroots to place its trust in the top leadership.
He denied that party polls would be called in light of Muhyiddin's sacking.
The Supreme Council had sacked Muhyiddin and Mukhriz, and suspended Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal yesterday, for breaking party rules.
