Sultan of Johor receives RM6.45 million tithe from JCorp

JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today received business tithe (zakat) totalling RM6.45 million from Johor Corp (JCorp) on behalf of the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAIJ).

The tithe was presented to the ruler by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also JCorp chairman, at a breaking of fast event at the Sultan Iskandar Mosque in Bandar Dato Onn here today.

The tithe comprises of contributions from 37 companies under JCorp, including Kulim (M) Bhd, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd, KPJ Healthcare Bhd and Johor Land Bhd.

The ruler was accompanied by the Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, the Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.

Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa and state Exco members as well as State Secretary Datuk Ismail Karim.

At the event, JCorp also presented contributions to 100 orphans, poor families and disabled people from five charity homes around Johor Baru.

The ruler also launched the 72nd Program Penyayang KFC at the event. Under the programme, KFC would deliver KFC meals to orphanages and charity homes four times a year.

JCorp also presented a contribution of RM10,000 to orphans and the less fortunate children from SK Bukit Mutiara and RM10,000 to the school's Parents Teachers Association (PIBG).

Some 2,000 guest were present at the event today comprising of JCorp staff and the community.
