Housewife loses RM9k to robber in front of neighbour's house

GURUN: A housewife lost RM9,000 in a robbery right in front of her neighbour’s house at Taman Murni in Gurun near here on Sunday morning.

Rosliza was talking to a neighbour after she came out of her house to throw the garbage when a parang-wielding man told her to surrender her valuables.

Rosliza tried to escape but the man grabbed her bracelet and she fell to the ground.

While she was down on the ground, the man yanked on her necklace that also contained two gold rings.

Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Md Zukir Md Isa said the victim screamed for help. Her son ran out of the house to help but the man pointed the parang at him and hurled a flowerpot at him.

When Rosliza’s husband came out to help, the man threw pieces of broken glass at him before fleeing with the valuables.

“The victim sustained bruises on her right hand when she tried to fend off the man,” said Md Zukir.

He said the victim had noticed four men on two motorcycles who rode passed by her and her neighbour earlier.

“The man with a parang who robbed her was among the four men,” he said.

He said checks on one of the motorcycle registration numbers showed that it belonged to a man in Ipoh, Perak.

Zukir said police are now hunting the four suspects and the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery.
