Facebook's Slideshow brings photos and videos to life

KUALA LUMPUR: Facebook has rolled out a new feature called Slideshow since April 2016.

This new feature enables users to use their photo and video collection in their cameras or phone gallery to tell a story.

Slideshow lets users set their images and videos to music in a lively slideshow to be uploaded and shared.

Once users have taken more than five photos or videos within 24 hours, Facebook will automatically prepare a pre-made slideshow for users to customise. Users will then have the option to edit it, by adding and removing new images or videos, changing the theme to one of 10, including Nostalgic, Playful, Night Out, Birthday, Epic, Thankful, Tropical, Bollywood and Amped (this includes visual and music), adding a title and tagging friends.

Facebook also gives users the option to "Try it", when they see someone else's slideshow in their News Feed. The "Try it" option enables users to select five or more images or videos, select a theme, add a title and tag friends also.

Originally launched in August last year as part of Facebook's photo-sharing companion app Moments, Slideshow began testing with some users as part of the Facebook app's status composer in several countries since December 2015. Facebook intends to continue adding new themes and music to choose from, so the options will only continue to grow.

Slideshow will be available globally on iOS to all users within the week.
