ALOR STAR: A 25-year-old salesgirl on her way to work was injured in a snatch theft incident in front of a Ramadan bazaar at Jalan Kuala Sungai near here.
Kota Star district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rozi Jidin said Ruzanna Shamsudin, from Kampng Lubuk Air, sustained injuries to her head, and wounds to her face, hands and also legs in the 1.30pm incident yesterday.
He said Ruzanna was riding a motorcycle alone to work at a hypermarket in Jalan Lencongan Barat when another motorcyclist grabbed her bag that she had placed inside her motorcycle basket.
"As a result, Ruzanna lost control of her motorcycle and fell to the ground while the culprit sped off immediately after.
"Passers-by who saw the victim fall helped send her to the hospital for treatment,” he said, adding that Ruzanna is in stable condition.
Rozi said checks at the site showed that there were no CCTVs that could help in the investigation.
As such, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
