Man lost while out fishing found drowned

JOHOR BAHARU: A man who was reported missing while out fishing yesterday, was found drowned at the beach of Rimba Terjun, near Pontian, today.

Pontian Baru Fire and Rescue chief ASP Iqbal Raduan said the body of Isa Muhammad, 45, was found by fishermen at 9.15am, not far from where he went missing.

“Following the discovery of the body, the guard post, which was opened by enforcement agencies yesterday for the search and rescue mission, was closed at 9.53am,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the victim was said to have gone out fishing alone on a fiber boat at 6.20pm yesterday, and reportedly fell into the sea.

He said the search and rescue mission involved two boats and 36 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, marine police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the Civil Defence Department (CDD). --BERNAMA
