Abducted, murdered and buried next to a highway

JOHOR BARU: A couple have been arrested for murder following the discovery of a body buried by the side of a highway on Friday evening.

The body was that of a 31-year-old engineer in Singapore, who was reported missing from his home in Taman Dato Chellam on June 26.

State police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said their investigations led them to a couple, aged 22 and 32.

They were arrested at one of the suspects' home in Taman Indahpura, Kulai, on Friday at 3am.

"Upon interrogation, one of the suspects led police to the spot where the man was buried after he was allegedly killed," Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said.

Police recovered the remains at KM25.9 of the northbound side of the Second Link after the suspect led them there at 6pm.

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the suspects were believed to have abducted the victim but no ransom was sought from his family.

The incident, he said, is believed to have been triggered by jealousy and revenge.

Both suspects were remanded today to facilitate investigations into the murder case.

Police have not ruled out the possibility of more suspects being involved.
