KUALA TERENGGANU: A fisherman has been reported missing after his boat was found in the waters off Redang Island yesterday.
Baharuddin Muhamod, 58, had gone fishing out at sea alone about 9am, but failed to return to his house in Kampung Baru Pulau Redang.
Kuala Terengganu police deputy chief, Superintendent Suffian Sulaiman said the missing man’s wife had called him at 2.30pm, but the handphone went unanswered.
He said Baharuddin’s boat was found about two hours later, adding that his family lodged a police report about 5pm.
“A search and rescue operation, which included five fishing vessels, is underway,” he said here today.
