World class triathletes to compete in Johor next month

KUALA LUMPUR: World class triathletes will compete for honours in the inaugural Challenge Iskandar Puteri Race in Puteri Harbour in Johor on Aug 13.

Sponsored by UEM Sunrise Bhd, the race will begin with a 1.9km swimming, followed by a 90km bike ride and a 21km run.

The event will also feature a Kid Race for those between the ages of six and 18-years-old, and a fun-orientated 5km run.

“It is going to be a great race for professionals and amateurs,” said four-time world champion Chris McCormack in a statement.

The Iskandar Puteri event is part of the Challenge Family Tour, which started in 2002, comprising 44 races in 21 countries.

“We are thrilled to be part of the inaugural Challenge race. The event is part of our efforts to incorporate sports and healthy living into the blueprint of Iskandar Puteri,” said UEM Sunrise executive director Datuk Izzaddin Idris in a statement.

A challenge high performance forum will also be held on Aug 11, where top professionals led by Belinda Granger will talk about diet, training and peak-planning for aspiring athletes.
