Man kills live-in girlfriend after lover's spat

KUALA LUMPUR: A 36-year-old man killed his girlfriend following a lover's spat at their home in Taman Jinjang here today.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy said police received a distress call at 6.28am from the public, claiming that someone was about to commit suicide.

“When police arrived at the house, they saw the woman unconscious.

“The woman was lying on the living room floor. Her face and arms also bore bruises."

Munusamy said the man, who was still in the house, admitted that he had killed his girlfriend sometime in the last 12 hours after a quarrel.

“The couple had been living together for five years and also have a four-year-old daughter.

“The man, who works as a technician, allegedly beat up his girlfriend due to jealousy. They had been fighting since Thursday because the woman refused to return home and take care of their daughter,” he said.

Munusamy said that prior to the incident, the man had taken his daughter to his girlfriends father's house, saying that his girlfriend was already dead.

“The man believed that his girlfriend was having an affair with another man.

“The victim was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem. The man has been remanded for six day until Thursday (July 21)," he said.
