JOHOR BARU: A man overwhelmed by heartbreak has been arrested for indecent exposure after he walked naked in public in Permas Jaya, here, last night.
South Johor Baru police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said that they received a police report about the incident from a 26-year-old hotel receptionist who was at the location yesterday.
He said the suspect– a foreign national– is believed to have committed the act last Thursday (Jan 18) before being apprehended at 1.58pm the next day.
"The woman witnessed the suspect naked in a public place. Police from South Johor Baru headquarters arrested the suspect at the scene.
"Initial investigations found that the suspect acted in such a manner because he couldn't accept the reality of his girlfriend breaking up with him.
"Early investigations indicate that the suspect does not have any mental health-related issues," he said in a statement here today.
The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code.
In a viral 3 minute and 57 second video, a man is seen attempting to cross the street naked, but he is restrained by two men. Shortly after, the police arrived in a patrol car (MPV), trying to persuade the suspect and take him away.
