MH17: MAS holds private ceremony to commemorate fallen crew

SEPANG: Malaysia Airlines System Bhd (MAS) and Malaysia Airlines Bhd today held a private ceremony to commemorate its crew who perished in the Flight MH17 tragedy.

In a statement, MAS said the event was attended by the employees of the company as well as family members of the crew. The event was held at the Flight Management Building near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

It was also held in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, to allow the families and employees to gather in memory of those who perished in the flight.

Fifteen MAS crew members dies in the tragedy, together with 283 passengers.

“The private gathering was attended by the Malaysia Airlines family, in honour and memory of our crew members who lost their lives during this tragedy.

“It was led by MAB Chairman Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof alongside MAB’s Group Chief Executive Officer Peter Bellew, members of the board of directors and members of staff across all divisions of the company,” MAB said.

MAB said their thoughts and prayers continue to be with the crew and passengers of MH17 and their family members.

During the ceremony, a doa was recited for those who lost their lives followed by a slide show presentation of the tragedy.

MH17 was shot down over Donetsk, Ukraine and crashed near the Ukranian-Russian border.
