Body on highway case: Technician charged with murder

JOHOR BARU: A 32-year old technician was charged at the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court today with murder.

Wong Jian Boon, from Kulai, was accused of murdering Tan Chuen Take, 31, at a house in Taman Indahpura on June 22 this year between 8.30pm and 11pm.

It was reported that Tan's body was found buried along KM29.5 of the Second Link Highway in Gelang Patah, after the victim was reported missing by his family members on June 26.

He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

No plea was recorded and the accused, who works in Singapore, nodded his understanding of the charge that was read in Mandarin.

Magistrate Noor Aisyah Ahmad fixed Aug 29 for mention of the case, pending the forensic and lab reports.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Asmah Zainal Ariffin prosecuted the case while the accused was represented by lawyer Muhammad Ashraff Mohd Diah.
