Boon Siew Honda denies involvement in financial campaign for Khairul Idham

KUALA LUMPUR: Boon Siew Honda has denied it is involved in any campaign to get financial aid for rising Moto3 rider Khairul Idham Pawi.

“Khairul Idham is a contracted Honda racer and thus his expenses, planning, career and sponsorship are our responsibility.

“We are not involved in a campaign to get financial aid to pay for Khairul Idham’s escort officers ,” it said in a press statement, here today.

Boon Siew Honda said all expenses related to Khairul Idham or ‘Super KIP’ including flight tickets, accommodation, food, salaries are borne by them.

They also plan to take Khairul Idham to a higher level and managed to get personal sponsorship from Redbull recently.

Khairul Idham,17, won the German Grand Prix recently, his second win after the Argentina Grand Prix in April.

Following the win in Germany, his father, Pawi Omar regretted that he had to use his own money to pay for Khairul Idham’s escort officers.

Pawi said he needs RM200,000 so that Khairul Idham’s racing career could continue to flourish.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the ministry had approved an initial allocation of RM100,000 to aid the rider’s career. However, the money approved last month could not be given to Khairul Idham as he failed to give his bank account number and some documents.
