PAN throws support for DAP's Penang snap polls idea

GEORGE TOWN: Around 500 people packed the the Caring Society Complex here tonight to hear an explanation by the Penang government on the proposed snap polls.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said Pakatan was worried over the outcome of the polls should it proceed.

He also said the polls have received the agreement from its Pakatan ally, Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).

"I know they (PKR and PAN) are worried.

"DAP is also worried (about them outcome of the snap polls)," said Guan Eng while wrapping up the session.

PKR is expected to announce its stand tomorrow after a special meeting at its headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

Earlier during the session, Guan Eng said PAN had agreed to support the DAP-led state government's bid to hold snap polls in the state.

Guan Eng said although Penangnites were worried that Pakatan representatives would lose their seats if the snap polls proceed, the state government remains confident that the coalition would win.

He said the Penang government would only hold snap polls upon if a consensus is reached by the three Pakatan component parties comprising DAP, PKR and PAN.

"We will not proceed with the snap polls if any of the three were to oppose to it," Guan Eng said.

A total of eight speakers from DAP, PKR and PAN took to the state.

Among the speakers from were DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and PAN president Mohamad Sabu.
