Demak to push into emerging economies in Southeast Asia

BANTING: DNC Asiatic Holdings Sdn Bhd is using its new RM43 million manufacturing plant in Olak Lempit near Banting as Demak's distribution hub for market expansion into emerging economies in Southeast Asia.

Its chairperson Datin Seri Feona Wan Junaidi said Demak is also targeting developing markets in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa through its operation in Colombo.

"Together with our first plant in Kuching and the operations in Colombo, Demak is well positioned to move forward.

"Essentially, Malaysia and Sri Lanka will serve as two important regional distribution hubs for our market expansion into emerging markets," she said in her speech at the official opening of Demak Malaysia's corporate building and manufacturing plant here yesterday.

The ceremony was officiated by the International Trade and Industry (MITI) minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

Demak's 7.8-acres manufacturing plant, with a built-up area of 260,000 sq ft, houses two production line, warehousing, training and research and development facilities.

The fully integrated plant also has manufacturing facilities for motorcycle chassis, metal-based parts and plastic parts and components.

The brand name Demak made its motorcycle sales debut in Sarawak in 2003 after its holding company, DNC Asiatic, obtained the licence from the MITI to assemble and manufacture motorcycles in December 2002.
