KOTA TINGGI: A dead body, believed to be from Saturday's boat tragedy in Pantai Batu Layar, was found at noon today.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Superintendent Rahmat Othman said fishermen stumbled upon the body at Laut Batu Berlubang waters, off Bandar Penawar about 1.8km from the shore and 11km from the location of the incident.

"The body was sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital," Rahmat said.

The death toll now stands at 15, comprising eight men, six women and an unborn child. The unborn child was from a victim who was seven months pregnant.

The victims are all believed to be Indonesians.

It is learnt that the two-metre wide boat, which is fitted with three 200 horse powered (hp) engines, can accommodate at least 60 passengers at a time.
