Eight injured in three bomb explosions in Southern Thailand

PATTANI: Three bomb explosions were reported in the restive region of southern Thailand today, causing injuries to eight civilians and security members.

Pattani police chief Major General Phonsak Wangsupa said one of the explosion, involving a home-made bomb, occurred at 7.50 am (local time), resulting in two security members to be injured.

“The bomb, weighing five kilogrammes, was placed at the fence of Pondok Salihiah, Khokpo in Pattani and it exploded while the security members were patrolling the area,” he added.

Prior to that, at about 7.30 am, he said, a home-made bomb had exploded in Kampung Chanae, Sabayoi, causing four security members and a civilian to be injured.

In another incident, a 57-year-old civilian was injured when a home-made bomb, which was detonated using a walkie-talkie, exploded, said Kabang police chief Colonel Yannapon Ubonban. -- Bernama
