KUALA LUMPUR: A man had to be rushed to hospital for smoke inhalation after his vehicle caught fire in an incident along KM13.2 of the Maju Expressway today.
The man and two others, all in their 30s, were in the Proton Persona when it caught fire this evening.
All three managed to exit the vehicle in time, but one of the men suffered breathing difficulties as a result of the smoke.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the man was rushed to the nearest hospital by passers-by.
He said eight firemen from the Cyberjaya fire station were deployed to the scene to battle the fire.
“The fire was put out by 6.30pm but the vehicle was completely burnt," he said.
The incident caused a three-kilometre crawl from Jalan Kuchai Lama towards Sri Kembangan.
Traffic returned to normal by 7pm.
