Two blocks at KLIA hotel gutted in fire

PUTRAJAYA: Two blocks that used to house a kitchen, restaurant, as well as an office and storage facility, were gutted in a fire at the Concorde Inn Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Zamri Che Din said the razed blocks were part of the 20-block building of the hotel.

“We were alerted to the emergency at 3.48pm and deployed our personnel to the scene.

“The Airport Fire Rescue Service (AFRS) was also rushed to the scene to help battle the blaze."

Zamri said firemen managed to control the fire from spreading to other blocks at 6.12pm, after which overhaul works were carried out.

The cause of the fire and estimation on the losses are still being investigated.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

A total of 71 officers from the Fire and Rescue Department from KLIA, Cyberjaya and police were involved in the operation.
