Kuala Kangsar MP launches SK Raja Muda Musa 'Dengue Patrol'

KUALA KANGSAR: The pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Raja Muda Musa here were won over by Kuala Kangsar member of parliament Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid, who visited their school today.

Mastura was present to launch the school’s ‘Dengue Patrol’ initiative. The school is one of eight from Perak that will be competing in the programme at the national-level.

The newly-minted MP won the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat on June 18. The seat fell vacant after her husband, former Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad, died in a tragic helicopter crash in Sarawak in May.

Mastura, who turns 55 today, was a hit with the students, spending about two hours with them.

She expressed her hope that the Dengue Patrol initiative will take flight internationally.

“It is not an impossible task thanks to the impact of social media and the Internet," said Mastura.

Dengue Patrol is a national-level competition co-organised by French company Sanofi Pasteur in cooperation with the Health and Education ministries.

It began in June and will end Sept 2.

All dengue eradication and awareness activities carried out by the respective schools are judged by the number of likes, shares and comments on their social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr and Twitter.

Meanwhile, despite her ‘edah’ (grieving period) ending on Sept 16, Mastura has kept herself busy, having conducted more than 10 visits to villages and remote areas in her constituency.

“I just wanted to know their situation and their needs, so I have been going around, "she said.
