BEAUFORT: It is important to not only support but defend the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak so as to give him space and opportunity to fight for the interests of the people.
Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the prime minister and Umno president has been committed to Sabah and responsible for spurring development here.
He said this during the launch of the Zone 3 (Papar, Kimanis, Beaufort, Sipitang) Umno divisional meeting by Najib at the Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Dun Banir hall here.
"I want to mention this in order to remind us of all the programmes and policies the government has brought to Sabah.
"For example, the devolution of power to the state government, where the government took proactive steps to ensure that in three years, 90 per cent of teachers in Sabah would be local folks.
"After one year, we have recorded positive achievement, where currently 77 per cent of teachers in secondary schools and 82 percent of teachers in primary schools in the state are Sabahan.
"This is the Prime Minister's promise and we thank him ... So while we fight for our rights and interests in Sabah, we must realise we have enjoyed a lot under Malaysia and we must appreciate what the prime minister has done for Sabah," stressed Musa.
