KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur has found its secondary school champion for the state-level RHB-New Straits Times Spell-It-Right Challenge.

Michelle Ong Shu Tian, 16, from Sekolah Methodist Wesley will go to the competition's national level on Oct 1.

She beat 99 other of Kuala Lumpur's best today and also took home RM3,000.

Having taken part in the challenge eight times since primary school, Ong was also the state champion last year.

"The words get harder and harder every year," said the champion, whose final and winning word was "pantechnicon."

In second place was SMK Seri Sentosa's Shivanya Avisya Biswajeet, who won RM2,500, and Sadhna Thrukkumar from SMK (P) Methodist (M) at third place winning RM2,000.
