Condo residents seeing red after basement flooding

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of a condominium at an upscale neighbourhood are seeing red after their basement parking was flooded with deluge following a heavy downpour this morning.

The residents of Casa Kiara II in Mont Kiara said the water came from a nearby construction site.

Nurlina Hussin said she had never experienced such incident since staying at the condominium unit five years ago.

She believed the deluge had originated from a natural stream of which the flow was affected by the construction.

"This morning, some of the residents were surprised to find water rising as they were about to leave for work.

"The construction project's management had offered to pump the water out, but we are worried that the deluge could be a sign of worse things to come such as a landslide," she told The New Straits Times.

"We had voiced our complaint to the management and hope the project owner will pay heed as they had also given us other problems in the past such as noise pollution," she added.
