Rafizi told to enter defence over disclosing contents of 1MDB audit report

KUALA LUMPUR : Pandan member of parliament Rafizi Ramli was today ordered to enter his defence by the Sessions Court on charges of unlawful possession of an classified document, the 1MDB Audit Report and disclosing the contents of that report at the Parliament lobby in March.

Judge Zulqarnain Hassan ruled that the prosecution has proven a prima facie case against Rafizi on charges under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972.

Rafizi, 39, is alleged to have committed both the offences at the Parliament Lobby at about 3pm on March 24 and March 28.

"After studying the evidence that was presented, it is clear that the document that was leaked was indeed page 98 of the 1MDB final report which he was in possession of. This was also disclosed by Rafizi during the press conference at the Parliament lobby."

Zulkarnian fixed Sept 27, Oct 6 and 7 for continuation of trial.

Rafizi was represented by Gobind Singh Deo while deputy public prosecutor Suhaidariah Ahmad, prosecuted.
