BANDAR SERI JEMPOL: A 22 year-old man was arrested last night after he threatened to shoot a 50 year-old man with an air rifle at Felda Palong 11 here, yesterday.
Prior to the incident, the suspect had been caught stealing coconuts in the victim’s house compound. A confrontation ensued, leading to the victim seizing the suspect’s motorcycle’s keys.
Jempol district police chief Superintendent Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the suspect demanded the return of his keys, to no avail.
“The suspect then left, only to return to the house with an air rifle. He threatened to shoot the house owner if he refused to return the keys,” he said.
Noorzainy added that the two men then engaged in a scuffle and the victim managed to seize the air rifle from the suspect.
“The commotion was heard by neighbours who quickly came to the aid of the house owner. The suspect then fled the scene,” he said.
Following the incident, the victim lodged a police report and the suspect was detained at his house in Felda Palong 11, at 11.45pm last night.
