Husband, wife held for allegedly selling air rifles, bullets, alcoholic drinks and untaxed cigarettes

KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested a husband and wife in Nabawan here yesterday for allegedly selling air rifles, bullets, alcoholic beverages and untaxed cigarettes

A woman, 40, was arrested in a raid on a house in Kampung Lima Lumintok, while her husband, 33, was arrested at a grocery store in Kampung Sarikan Jalan Tawau-Keningau.

Sabah Criminal Investigation (D9) chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim said the raids were conducted by the state headquarters D9 and Special Branch.

He said the couple were believed to be involved in selling firearms and untaxed items.

"The team seized six air guns. Hundreds of bullets and several airgun equipment were also seized."

He said the team also found alcoholic beverages and untaxed cigarettes.

"The value of the seizure is about RM60,000.

"Police are tracking down the source of the air guns owned by the husband and wife."
