Upko to present proposed resolutions on Malaysia Agreement to PM

KOTA KINABALU: United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Organisation (Upko) will present its proposed resolutions with regards to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in November.

Acting Upko president Datuk Seri Madius Tangau said the party has taken note of the issues discussed in its Malaysia Day Forum this afternoon.

“The results of the discussion will be summarised and we will submit it officially to the prime minister during his visit here to launch the Upko convention on Nov 12.

“It is vital that we highlight our concerns to ensure that all recommendations made in the MA63 can be implemented to enhance the wellbeing of the Sabah people."

Madius also called on all Barisan Nasional component parties in Sabah to submit a joint memorandum on matters pertaining to Sabah's rights in the formation of Malaysia.

The closed-door forum, held in conjunction with the 53rd Malaysia Day, was aimed at sharing and enhancing knowledge on the history of Malaysia's formation, especially on important documents related to the event.

These included the 20 Points, MA63, as well as Federal and State Constitutions, among others.

Last month, Madius, who is Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, had said that Upko had always and would continue to champion the MA63.

In September last year, Upko presented a 10-point memorandum to Najib. The document contained Upko's proposals on what needs to be done to empower Sabah.
