KUALA LUMPUR: National badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei retained his top position at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) world rankings.
According to the latest BWF rankings issued at its website today, the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist accumulated 91,773 points after playing in 14 tournaments, and thus retained his top position which he held since June 9.
Two Chinese shuttlers – Chen Long and Lin Dan – also held on to the second and third spots, respectively with 86,984 and 77,188 points.
National top men’s doubles pair, Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong who secured silver at Rio Olympics, also retained their position in the ninth place for a fourth straight weeks with 63,237 points.
World junior champion Goh Jin Wei who finished as runner-up at just recent Indonesian Masters, climbed 14 rungs to 36th spot with 31,706 points, however Tee Jing Yi remained as Malaysian top women’s singles after she held on to 29th spot with 34,885 points.
Vivian Hoo Kah Mun/Woon Khe Wei who made into the quarterfinals at the Rio Olympics also held on their position in 13th place with 48,917 points in the women’s doubles rankings.
National top mixed doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying who clinched silver at Rio Olympics also remained in the eighth place with 61,920 points.
While another national pair, Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing rose six rungs to 18th place with 41,670 points following their runner-up feat at the Indonesian Masters.--BERNAMA
