Storm triggers flash floods, topples trees in George Town [VIDEO]

GEORGE TOWN: Torrential rain has toppled trees and caused flash flooding in low-lying areas across the island.

The water level is now knee-high at flood-prone areas along Jalan P Ramlee and its vicinity.

In Jalan Perak and Taman Lip Sin, felled trees could be seen on the rooftop of a house and on several parked cars. Streets in the area are strewn with toppled trees.

Elsewhere, residents were seen wading through flood affected areas.

Partially-submerged cars were seen stalled in several locations. One car was pushed out of a flooded area by a group of volunteers.

No one has been reported to be displaced or injured.
