(Motorsports) Gear issues end with Zulfahmi finishing 22nd at World Supersport Championship

KUALA LUMPUR: Zulfahmi Khairuddin finished a disappointing 22nd at the German round of the World Supersport Championship as both Orelac Racing bikes suffered gear shift issues at the Lausitzring.

Zulfahmi, who started from 24th on the grid, said he expected to do more but found it hard to push harder with his Kawasaki ZX-6R not being at its best.

“My start wasn’t good but I didn’t lose any places," said Zulfahmi.

“As the race went on, I could catch and pass some riders but then I started having problems with the gears.

“It wasn’t easy to ride the bike because the feeling was not good.

“The bike felt heavy and changing direction was hard. It was not a good race for me, but I feel positive that the next round will be much better and I am already looking forward to it".

Orelac teammate Nacho Calero, who finished 24th, also face issued with his shifting.

The next round will be held at the Magny-Cours circuit in France on Sep 30-Oct 2.
