Jobless man identified as first suspect in Nur Darleen kidnapping

PUTRAJAYA: Police have identified and will soon detain the first suspect allegedly involved in the kidnapping of 15 year-old Nur Darleen Dazeera.

Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nayan said the suspect is a 25 year-old jobless man who lives in an area not far from the victim.

"We will identify the second suspect once we arrest the first. We are not ruling out that the victim may know her abductors.

“We urge the public not to make any speculation, as we are still investigating the case," he told reporters after attending the 1Aman Week: Police and Community Together As One event at the Putra International Convention Centre here.

The Form Three student of SMK Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, who was clad in her school uniform, was reported to have been abducted at her home while waiting for her school van at 7am yesterday.

She was later found by a classmate’s family, who had spotted her walking by the roadside around 300 metres from her family’s home at 2.20pm.

Darleen, upon being reunited with her family, revealed that the men who abducted her had waved a parang in her direction before forcing her onto their motorcycle.

She claimed that she was taken to an unknown location, where she was locked up.

When news of her disappearance went viral on social media, she was abandoned.
