BN Youth unperturbed over EC's redelineation proposal

GEORGE TOWN: The recent re-delineation exercise proposed by the Election Commission (EC) will not affect Barisan Nasional Youth’s ongoing preparations for the coming general election.

Penang Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abd Rahim said the coalition’s wing is also prepared to face the possibility of snap polls.

“We are ever ready (to take on the opposition). The wing leaders will go all-out to face DAP and its allies to capture as many seats as possible for BN,” he said when commenting on whether the redelineation exercise would lead to BN losing ground due to a possible imbalance in the voter ratio.

Penang Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the redelineation of electoral borders would not be done in favour of certain parties.

Reezal said the impact of the exercise would affect all parties if it were to take place.

Last week, BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the coalition had set up a committee to consolidate views and suggestions by BN component parties on the redelineation proposal.

Najib had said the committee would be chaired by BN secretary Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and comprise the secretaries-general of all BN component parties.
